^Lot 3168 CUSTOM UPGRADED GAME SCENE ENGRAVED WINCHESTER

1892 DELUXE STYLE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 25-20 WCF. S# 374966. Mfg. 1907. Bbl. 24" part rd-oct upgraded bbl carries a circle P proof indicating that it was not fitted by Winchester. Fitted with a steel bead dovetailed front sight & elevator adjustable sporting rear sight. Receiver is decorated with a custom game scene engraving featuring a prairie dog on the left and a fox on the right with the balance engraved with a foliate scroll and punch dot pattern. The nose cap,screws, and buttplate have matching pattern engraved accents. Pistol grip deluxe style stock set with style H checkered pattern that terminates with a crescent buttplate and a hard rubber Winchester Repeating Arms pistol grip cap. The butt is marked "92 / 7596" under the buttplate. CONDITION: bbl & mag tube retain approx 95% reblued metal finish with fairly heavy freckled oxidation present. The receiver retains 97% reblued metal finish with a lot less of the freckled oxidation that is found on the bbl. The engraving is sharp and crisp with nicely executed scroll and game scene. Stock set has nice figure and has been refinished with repairs to the toe, tang and chipped forearm. There are other cracks found in the wrist and forearm areas. The checkering was recut. Bright bore with good rifling having some pitting mostly towards the muzzle. (25-1305/ZAL). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.
